Christopher Barger is the CEO and Founder of Christopher Barger Communications. Building on expertise acquired from almost two decades experience in developing corporate communications and digital strategies for Fortune 50 companies. Christopher assists clients in creating communications strategies, developing winning storytelling and narratives, and aligning digital execution with broader communications, marketing, and business objectives.
Christopher has also served as Senior Vice President of Global Programs at Voce Communications for the past five years, helping clients around the world develop and execute social media strategies. During his tenure at Voce he has consulted with companies ranging from Disney Parks, PlayStation, the World Health Organization, the Almond Board of California, HP, Applied Materials, Pentaho, Tile, and HGST, among many others.
Before arriving at Voce, Christopher was director of global social media at General Motors, building the company’s social media program and leading its presence across multiple social networks, earning an Excellence in New Communications award for the company from the Society of New Communications Research (SNCR) in 2007. His work to repair GM’s post-bankruptcy reputation in the social web won him PR News’ “Social Media Leader of the Year” award in 2010.
Christopher also previously managed social media initiatives and corporate communications for IBM, serving from 2005-2007 as that company’s first “Blogger-in-Chief” and playing the pivotal role in the development of IBM’s social media program.
